Alexandria Police Chief to Release
Composite Sketch in Fatal Stabbing of Boy

Investigators with the Alexandria Police Department have prepared a composite sketch of the suspect who stabbed an 8-year-old boy to death two days ago. Chief of Police Charles E. Samarra will re-visit the crime scene between 2:30 and 3 p.m. today to release the sketch and assist officers in distributing it to neighbors.

On Wednesday, April 19, Kevin Shifflett was playing outside a home in the 100 block of East Custis Avenue when an unknown individual approached him and stabbed him multiple times. With witness assistance, detectives produced the computer-generated sketch and will share it with Del Ray residents and business people throughout this afternoon and evening.

The suspect is described as a black male, 20 to 30 years old, 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, and weighing approximately 150 to 170 pounds. At the time of the attack, the suspect may have had a mustache and other facial hair, and he was last seen wearing dark clothing including a light brown pullover sweater.
