City of Alexandria Announces Schedule of Services for
Monday, February 21, in Observance of Presidents’ Day

City government offices, including the administrative offices of the Alexandria Police Department, will be closed on Monday, February 21, in observance of Presidents’ Day. Full police patrol and emergency services will be in place during the holiday.

In accordance with Virginia State Law, the Alexandria Police Department will suspend enforcement of parking restrictions at metered spaces, as well as time restrictions in residential permit parking districts and other areas with signed parking time limits, on Monday, February 21. All other parking regulations will be in effect, however, some parking in Old Town will be restricted for the George Washington Birthday Parade between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Additionally, HOV restrictions on Washington Street and Route 1 will be lifted on Monday, February 21.

The Treasury and Revenue Divisions of the Finance Department, which are regularly open on Saturday mornings for payment of property taxes and parking tickets, will be closed on Saturday, February 19, and Monday, February 21.

Residential trash and recycling collection services scheduled for Monday, February 21, will occur on Tuesday, February 22, and collection services regularly scheduled for Tuesday, February 22, will occur on Wednesday, February 23. Residential trash and recycling collection services regularly scheduled for Wednesday, February 23, will occur on Thursday, February 24, and collection services regularly scheduled for Thursday, February 24, will occur on Friday, February 25.

City schools will be closed on Monday, February 21.

On Monday, February 21, Charles Houston, Cora Kelly, Nannie J. Lee, and Mount Vernon recreation centers will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Chinquapin Recreation Center will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Charles Barrett, Patrick Henry, and William Ramsay recreation centers will be closed on Monday, February 21.

City libraries will be closed on Monday, February 21.

DASH bus service will operate on a Saturday schedule on Monday, February 21.

State offices in Alexandria, including the Circuit, General District, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Courts, the Clerk of Court Office, and the Alexandria Health Department, will be closed on Monday, February 21.
