The City of Alexandria’s Commission for Women is seeking nominations of women who have made significant contributions to the City, for its 20th Annual Salute to Women Awards Banquet.

The banquet, which will be held on Monday, March 20 at 6 p.m., at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites on 625 First Street, Alexandria, recognizes the important work women do in the City. Nominations for the award must be sent to the Office on Women by February 20, 2000. Individuals or organizations may nominate more then one woman for the salute. Proceeds from the banquet will help support domestic violence and sexual assault programs offered by the
City’s Office on Women.

Maureen Bunyan, evening news anchor for WJLA-TV Channel 7, will be the keynote speaker for the event. Ms. Bunyan, one of the Washington area’s most respected journalists, is the founder of the Women’s Independent Media Foundation and serves on the boards of the National Commission on Working Women.
