City of Alexandria Announces Schedule of Services for
Monday, January 17, in Observance of Lee-Jackson-King Day

City government offices, including the administrative offices of the Alexandria Police Department, will be closed on Monday, January 17, in observance of Lee-Jackson-King Day. Full police patrol and emergency services will be in place during the holiday.

In accordance with Virginia State Law, the Alexandria Police Department will suspend enforcement of parking restrictions at metered spaces, as well as time restrictions in residential permit parking districts and other areas with signed parking time limits, on Monday, January 17. All other parking regulations will be in effect. Additionally, HOV restrictions on Washington Street and Route 1 will be lifted on Monday, January 17.

The Treasury and Revenue Divisions of the Finance Department, which are regularly open on Saturday mornings for payment of property taxes and parking tickets, will be closed on Saturday, January 15, and Monday, January 17.

Residential trash and recycling collection services scheduled for Monday, January 17, will occur on Tuesday, January 18, and collection services regularly scheduled for Tuesday, January 18, will occur on Wednesday, January 19. Residential trash and recycling collection services regularly scheduled for Wednesday, January 19, will occur on Thursday, January 20, and collection services regularly scheduled for Thursday, January 20, will occur on Friday, January 21.

City schools will be closed on Monday, January 17.
On Monday, January 17, Charles Houston, Cora Kelly, Nannie J. Lee and Mount Vernon recreation centers will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Charles Barrett, Patrick Henry, and William Ramsay recreation centers will be closed on Monday, January 17. Chinquapin Park Recreation Center will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Monday, January 17.

City libraries will be closed on Monday, January 17.

DASH bus service will operate on a Saturday schedule on Monday, January 17.

State offices in Alexandria, including the Circuit, General District, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District courts, the Clerk of Court Office, and the Alexandria Health Department, will be closed on Monday, January 17.
