Alexandria Police Investigate a Fatal Pedestrian Accident
The Alexandria Police Department is investigating a fatal traffic accident which occurred today, at approximately 12:50 p.m. An elderly male was struck by a motor vehicle as he crossed the 200 block of North Van Dorn Street.
The victim, a 90-year-old City resident, was walking west across North Van Dorn Street when he was struck by a northbound vehicle. That vehicle, a 1993 Nissan Altima, was being operated by a 32-year-old female City resident. Neither the driver of the Nissan nor her two passengers were injured.
The victim, identified as Kee Yoon, was transported by ambulance to Fairfax Hospital. He was pronounced dead at approximately 2:55 p.m.
The Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and closed the road while officers conducted the investigation. No charges have been filed in this case pending completion of the investigation. Speed and alcohol were not factors in this accident.
