Alexandria Police Release Sketch of Suspect in Mall Carjacking
Alexandria Police continue to investigate the carjacking of a Woodbridge woman two weeks ago at Landmark Mall and are now releasing a composite sketch of the suspect.
On Wednesday, November 17, just before 9 p.m., an unknown individual approached the 41-year-old victim as she was getting into her mini-van in the front lot of Landmark Mall (5901 Duke Street). The suspect pulled the victim from the van, and threw her to the ground. When the victim ran for help, the suspect entered the victim's 1994 Plymouth Voyager van and drove away. The suspect is described as a white male, 25 to 30 years old, possibly of Mediterranean descent, 5 feet 11 inches tall, 190 pounds, and wearing a plaid tan and brown shirt.
Immediately after the offense, the victim's credit card was used to purchase gas at a Mobil station on Livingston Road in Oxon Hill, Maryland. The victim's purse was recovered the following day near Rosecroft Raceway on Brinkley Road.
With the victim's assistance, detectives produced a composite sketch of the suspect and are now asking for assistance in locating the suspect. Anyone knowing the suspect's identity or the whereabouts of the stolen vehicle, a maroon mini-van with Virginia tags 533-454, is asked to call the Criminal Investigations Section at (703) 838-4711. A reward of up to $1,000 is available through Crime Solvers for information leading to the suspect's arrest.
For further details, please call the Public Information Office. Composite sketches are available at the front desk of police headquarters or via e-mail.
