City of Alexandria Announces Schedule of Services for the Thanksgiving Holiday on Thursday, November 25, and Friday, November 26
City government offices, including the administrative offices of the Alexandria Police Department, will be closed on Thursday, November 25, and Friday, November 26 in observance of Thanksgiving. Full police patrol and emergency services will be in place during these days.
In accordance with Virginia State Law, the Alexandria Police Department will suspend enforcement of parking restrictions at metered spaces, as well as time restrictions in residential permit parking districts and other areas with signed parking time limits, on Thursday, November 25, and Friday, November 26. All other parking regulations will be in effect. Additionally, HOV restrictions on Washington Street and Route 1 will be lifted on Thursday, November 25, and Friday, November 26.
The Treasury and Revenue Divisions of the Finance Department, which are regularly open on Saturday mornings for payment of property taxes and parking tickets, will be closed on Thursday, November, 25, Friday, November 26, and Saturday, November 27.
City schools will be closed on Thursday, November 25, and Friday, November 26.
There will be regular residential trash and recycling collection services on Thursday, November 25.
All recreation centers will be closed on Thursday, November 25. On Friday, November 26, Charles Houston, Cora Kelly, Mount Vernon and Nannie J. Lee recreation centers will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Chinquapin Park Recreation Center will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Charles Barrett, Patrick Henry, and William Ramsay recreation centers will be closed on Friday, November 26.
City libraries will be closed on Thursday, November 25, and Friday, November 26.
There will be no DASH bus service on Thursday, November 25, but DASH will operate on a regular weekday schedule on Friday, November 26.
State offices in Alexandria, including the Circuit, General District, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District courts, the Clerk of Court Office and the Alexandria Health Department, will close at noon on Wednesday, November 24, and will reopen on Monday, November 29.
