City Invites Public to Forum on Y2K Preparedness
As a part of the City's ongoing community outreach efforts related to the Year 2000 (Y2K) computer problem, the City of Alexandria's Commission on Information Technology is sponsoring a public forum Thursday, October 28, at 7:30 p.m., to discuss how the City of Alexandria, local utilities and the nation have prepared for the date rollover to the Year 2000.
The forum, a "Community Conversation and Status Report on the Year 2000 Computer Problem," will be held in the auditorium of the Minnie Howard Ninth Grade Center, located at 3801 W. Braddock Road. It is designed to educate Alexandria residents about the readiness of their local government and the utilities that serve them. In addition, there will be several featured speakers, including Janet Abrams, executive director of the President's Council on Year 2000 Conversion. There also will be an opportunity for audience members to ask questions of the various speakers.
