Alexandria Fire and Police Investigate a Suspicious Fire at the Public Safety Facility

This morning, at approximately 3:52 a.m., an interior fire alarm was activated within the Police Department. Upon investigation, police staff discovered water and smoke coming from a rear elevator on the first floor.

Fire personnel responded and discovered that the building's second floor sprinkler system had been activated and that one of the initial fires began in a second floor hallway. A second fire, which extinguished itself, was located in a third floor hallway of the building. Fire investigators and detectives from the Criminal Investigations Section will conduct a joint investigation into this suspicious fire.
