City to Honor Employees at Annual Award Reception Seven Workers Stand Out with 250 Total Years of Service to Alexandria
On Monday, February 1, the Alexandria City Council and City Manager Vola Lawson will recognize the contributions and commitment of many long-time City employees at the annual Service Awards Reception. More than 100 employees and recent retirees are expected to attend the reception which will be held in Old Town Alexandria at the Torpedo Factory Art Center (105 North Union Street) between 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
Among the honorees are Loretta Wells, who retired last year from the Department of Recreation after 40 years of service, and six other employees who continue to work for the City after serving more than 35 years each. Barbara Allen of Real Estate Assessments, Robert Wagner of General Services, and Charles Lloyd, Ronald Graves, Glenn Hampton and James Oakes, all of the Police Department, all celebrated 35-year anniversaries with the City in 1998.
Dozens of other City employees will be recognized with certificates and plaques at the reception for achieving 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 years of service. Says Mrs. Lawson, "Alexandrians benefit each day from the dedication and hard work of our City employees. I am proud to recognize these loyal workers and their remarkable service records."
