City of Alexandria Launches JobLink Employment Center for Employers and Employment Seekers
Alexandria, Virginia - The City of Alexandria is proud to announce the launch of JobLink, an employment program designed to bring together businesses that need reliable employees and job seekers in search of permanent employment. Designed to foster economic independence, JobLink is available to all residents of the City of Alexandria through the Department of Human Services and provides a wide range of employment and support services to both employers and job seekers. The JobLink Center opened its doors for business on December 10, 1998 at 2034 Eisenhower Avenue, Suite # 140, Alexandria, Virginia 22314.

The Joblink Center responds to employers' recruitment needs by providing a central location where companies can both announce vacancies and find qualified employees. Companies seeking employees through JobLink will find candidates who are prepared to meet the rigorous demands of a diversified job market. JobLink responds to an employer's need to hire reliable, capable, and highly motivated workers. Through the use of the Employer Services Plan and with the help of Account Managers, JobLink offers employers personalized marketing, recruitment, and employee screening services as well as specialized recruitment sessions and space for conducting interviews. Employers are advised of the numerous federal and state tax advantages offered for hiring economically disadvantaged job seekers.

Alexandria job seekers can rely on the JobLink Resource Center to get up-to-date vacancy listings and access to telephones, voice mail, copiers, fax machines, and computers to facilitate a employment search. A representative from the Virginia Employment Commission is on site to match job-seeking customers with compatible vacancies using the Alexandria computerized job listing system. JobLink staff provide career assessments to ensure that clients are well matched with the available jobs, and to offer job counseling when needed.

JobLink also offers a variety of training programs to help eligible candidates obtain specific occupational and job market skills. These include workshops on communication skills, social and emotional literacy, GED on video, resume writing, and interviewing for a job. In addition, special employment and training services are available for dislocated workers, refugees, and disabled workers.

JobLink, whose motto is " We link good people to good jobs, " is affiliated with

the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, Alexandria Commission on Employment,

Alexandria/Arlington Private Industry Council, and the Alexandria Works! Coalition.

Contact the employment professionals at Joblink for assistance with recruiting qualified employees or for conducting a successful job search.
