Call to Community Initiatives Set
Alexandria's Call to Community Steering Committee, organized by Vice Mayor William D. Euille and Council Member Lonnie C. Rich to promote racial harmony and cultural understanding in Alexandria, has identified two initiatives to involve community members in a dialogue about racial and cultural issues within Alexandria. The first initiative, an inaugural event designed to set the stage for open discussion, is scheduled for the fall. That event will set the tone for the second initiative, forums held in neighborhoods throughout the City.

Endorsed by the Alexandria City Council in February, Alexandria's Call to Community Program will provide an opportunity for city residents to engage in community dialogue on race and diversity. Alexandria is the most diverse city in Virginia and the 39th most diverse city in the nation.

Members of the Steering Committee, co-chaired by Vice Mayor Euille and Council Member Rich, include Mollie Abraham, Cheryl Ross-Audley, Heitha Beane, the Reverend Daniel Brown, Lynwood Campbell, Antoine P. Cobb, Ricardo Drummond, Rabbi Arnold Fink, Nancy Finley, the Reverend Nancy Foil, Pamela Kicak, George Lambert, Jim McClellan, Rabbi Jack Moline, Katherine Morrison, the Reverend George Pera, the Reverend Lloyd Roberts, the Reverend Clarence Watkins, and Ellen Kabcenell Wayne.
