New Regional Mobility Panel Studying Bus Service Improvements Schedules Public Meeting for June 3 in Alexandria
Should there be standard fares among all of the region’s bus services? Should there be a single phone number to call for information on bus and rail services? How should public transit services be funded?
These and other questions are the focus of a new study by a Regional Mobility Panel. Metro, the region’s mass transit agency, created the Panel to look into bus service in the Washington area. The 30-member Panel, including Alexandria Mayor Kerry J. Donley, will make recommendations to Congress later this year on how bus service can better meet the region’s transportation needs.
The Panel, which is chaired by John Milliken of Arlington, is conducting public meetings throughout the region to gather citizen comments on bus service improvements.
The first of these public meetings will be held on Tuesday, June 3, at 7 p.m. in Room 2000 at City Hall, 301 King Street, Alexandria. For more information, call the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority at (202) 962-1997.
