Alexandria City Council Schedules Community Meeting at Landmark Mall on June 4; Retail Activity at Landmark, Community Policing, Turnpike Traffic Project, And Holmes Run Park Beautification Highlight Agenda
The Alexandria City Council will take up a host of issues affecting the City’s Lincolnia Hills/Landmark neighborhoods and businesses at a community meeting in the Center Court of Landmark Mall at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4.

The Landmark Mall meeting is the latest in a series of meetings convened by City Council outside of City Hall to focus on topics of interest to specific areas of the City. The meeting is open to the public and there will be a public comment period. Among the issues City Council will discuss at the community meeting are:


Landmark Mall. Mall General Manager Rod Renner and Alexandria Chamber of Commerce President/CEO Kathy Snyder will give a briefing on efforts to attract shoppers and new retail firms to the Mall, including the mall’s first movie theaters.

Community Policing. Alexandria Police Chief Charles Samarra will present an overview of community policing efforts in the Lincolnia Hills/Landmark area. The Police Department opened satellite stations at Landmark Mall in January and at Hampton Court apartments in April.

Beauregard Street/Little River Turnpike (Rt. 236) Intersection. Tom O’Kane, director of the City’s Department of Transportation and Environmental Services, will report on plans to improve this intersection.

Holmes Run Park. Barry Robinson, director of the City’s Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities, will provide a status report on landscaping and planting activities in Holmes Run Park.
Following presentations by City staff, City Council will open the meeting for citizen comments and Council discussion.
