Question:
Can you provide
additional information on the necessity of, and funding for the additional
Technology Support Engineer III that has been proposed to support the City’s
Emergency Operation Center (EOC)?
Response:
The Technology Support Engineer III will be an employee of ITS and be assigned to support enterprise security initiatives focusing on risk and compliance, including end-point, mobile device management, and asset management. The position will also have a role in future security initiatives, including system hardening, active monitoring and alerting, incident response and root cause analysis and the support of the Information Technology Services’ Continuity of Operations Plan. In addition, the position will support the technology embedded in the City’s new Emergency Operations Center (EOC) planned for the Public Safety Center, which is scheduled to come online during FY 2019. With the planned increased reliance on City technology during emergencies, it is critical that the systems used by first responders and other City staff working at the EOC during an event are reliable and reflect best practices for cyber security and operational readiness. The position will provide the support needed to support the facility before, during, and after emergencies.
