What was the nature of the contract services associated with recycling collection? What scope will now be performed internally?

Response:

For the past 8 years, recyclables at schools and City facilities have been collected by a contractor. Effective March 1, 2018, existing City staff and equipment are being used to collect recyclables at City schools and City-owned facilities (fire stations, community centers, City Hall, etc.). This reassignment of work away from a contractor will eliminate the need to procure these services and provides an annual savings to the City of $75,000. Existing City staff will absorb this work through more efficient use of time and equipment.
