Memo for fiscal year 2019, updated 2018-03-08

[Archived] Question #06: Provide a list of examples of street segments that have been repaved and the manhole covers are flush with the pavement.

Question:

Provide a list of examples of street segments that have been repaved and the manhole covers are flush with the pavement.

Response:

In FY 2017, East Windsor Street, Crescent Drive, and Commonwealth Avenue were repaved with manholes adjusted to be flush with the new resurfacing.  Adjustable manhole risers are the fastest, most efficient, and most cost-effective way to raise manholes to grade after streets are repaved. T&ES has recently implemented process improvements to the street repaving program to ensure that manhole risers are used, when feasible. Manhole risers costs approximately $75 each, including labor, equipment, and crew. T&ES is currently fully stocked with manhole risers for the remainder of the FY 2018 paving season.
