Memo for fiscal year 2018, updated 2017-05-05

[Archived] Question #85: Can you list, with the amounts, all of the BID-related items that we currently do?

Question:

Can you list, with the amounts, all of the BID-related items that we currently do?  (Ex: Wayfinding, Parking Reductions for special days, Lights)

Response:

To date, the Exploratory Committee has only suggested a broad framework of proposed services which are outlined in the Old Town BID Business Plan. The BID Exploratory Committee has stated repeatedly that if the creation of the proposed service district (i.e., the BID) is approved by City Council an interim appointed board of directors of the Old Town BID, a separate 501(c)6 organization, would hire an Executive Director and begin discussions with the City about the types and levels of service the City would continue to provide within the district boundaries. Therefore, the process of creating an exhaustive list of services would commence only after a BID is approved and formed.

The intent is that the current level of City services within the BID District would remain in place with the City still paying for them. Some of these services and related money could be shifted to the BID for the BID to deliver. Conversely, the BID could use its BID money to contract with the City for the City to provide or enhance services in the BID District.
