[Archived] Question #34: Would it be possible to build a school on the land behind Hammond Field?

Question:

Would it be possible to build a school on the land behind Hammond Field?

Response:

Though there are some restrictions and conflicts with the site, it is ACPS’ intent to conduct a feasibility study of Lower Hammond to determine if additional capacity is possible on the site.  There is a roller hockey rink currently at the site that would have to be studied to determine if it could remain. There are also other site considerations such as underground utilities and tree canopy protection that would need to be studied further. The City and ACPS are continuing to look at this and other land options for a future school site as part of the Long Range Educational Facilities Plan.
